Bumpy Scarfette

I was trying to figure out how to start a knitting blog, so I decided to start with a pattern. :) I'm calling it the bumpy scarfette because when it curls in on itself it looks a bit like it has bumps along the length of the scarfette or neck scarf.

Yarn: Any super bulky thick and thin yarn. Shown in:
Aslan Trends Los Andes (100 g / 87 yds), gives about 2 feet extra yarn at estimated gauge.

Needle: US 15, 10 mm

Gauge: unimportant for this pattern, estimated: 12 rows per 4 in; 10 sts per 4 in

Pattern:
Cast on 18 stitches
Rows 1-6: Work in stockinette stitch, starting with a knit row.

Start repeating pattern:
Row 7: *k2tog, repeat from * (9 sts)
Row 8-18: Work in stockinette stitch pattern
Row 19: *kfb, repeat from * (18 sts)
Row 20-26: Work in stockinette stitch pattern

Repeat pattern 4 more times (as written below):
Row 27: *k2tog, repeat from * (9 sts)
Row 28-38: Work in stockinette stitch pattern
Row 39: *kfb, repeat from * (18 sts)
Row 40-46: Work in stockinette stitch pattern

Row 47: *k2tog, repeat from * (9 sts)
Row 48-58: Work in stockinette stitch pattern
Row 59: *kfb, repeat from * (18 sts)
Row 60-66: Work in stockinette stitch pattern

Row 67: *k2tog, repeat from * (9 sts)
Row 68-78: Work in stockinette stitch pattern
Row 79: *kfb, repeat from * (18 sts)
Row 80-86: Work in stockinette stitch pattern

Row 87: *k2tog, repeat from * (9 sts)
Row 88-98: Work in stockinette stitch pattern
Row 99: *kfb, repeat from * (18 sts)
Row 100-106: Work in stockinette stitch pattern

To Finish:
Row 107: *k2tog, repeat from * (9 sts)
Row 108-118: Work in stockinette stitch pattern
Row 119: *kfb, repeat from * (18 sts)
Row 120-125: Work in stockinette stitch pattern
Bind off.

For option with button:
Use pattern as above.
Choose a button sized to fit through the super bulky yarn but large enough to hold firm.
Attach button about Row 25.

For option with slit to slide scarfette through:
Continue as above until Row 100.
Row 100: **Purl 6 sts, bind off 6 sts, **purl 6 sts
Row 101: Knit 6 sts, cast on 6 sts, knit 6 sts
Row 102-106: Work in stockinette stitch pattern

Row 107: *k2tog, repeat from * (9 st)
Row 108-118: Work in stockinette stitch pattern
Row 119: *kfb, repeat from * (18 st)
Row 120-125: Work in stockinette stitch pattern
Bind off.



Abbreviations:
k2tog: knit two stitches together
sts: stitches
kfb: knit into the front and back of the same stitch
